Sony has just announced its upcoming smartphone, the Sony Xperia XA2 Plus through a listing on the official Sony Mobile blog. The company is planning to aim for the mid-range market with this new device to take on its competition. The device will go on sale sometime in “late August” this year according to the official blog post by Sony. According to the listing page, the device will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 SoC along with up to 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. Sony is offering the device in two variants with the first featuring 4GB RAM and 32GB internal storage and the second one featuring 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage.
The company has also added a dedicated microSD card slot in the device so that users who want more storage can add cards with up to 400GB capacity to increase the storage of their device. Sony will launch both the single SIM as well as dual SIM slot version of the device along with support for Nano SIMs. Xperia XA2 Plus sport a 6-inch FHD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio, Corning Gorilla Glass 5 to protect the display against any damage, and ‘Image Enhance Technology’.

Sony pointed out that the device comes with a diamond cut finish on the top and bottom of the device along with a metallic finish on the back of the smartphone. The device comes with a fingerprint scanner on the back of the device. Moving to the camera section of the device, the device will come with 23-megapixel camera sensor with f/2.0 aperture along with Exmor RS technology for mobile.
The front of the smartphone comes with an 8-megapixel camera sensor with a “super wide-angle” lens that covers a 120-degrees field of view. Sony has added the Portrait mode in the selfie so that users can apply the bokeh effect in software. Users can shoot slow-motion video at 120fps while the camera also allows 4K video recording with “SteadyShot” technology.
The XA2 Plus runs Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box while being powered by a 3,580mAh battery with Anovo Adaptive Charging, Battery Care, and support for Quick Charge 3.0. The company has also added Stamina mode to the software of the operating system. The device also supports High-Resolution Audio along with LDAC, stereo recording, DSEE HX, SmartAmplifier, ClearAudio, Clear Bass, and stereo recording. On the connectivity front, the device will come with Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, NFC, and USB Type-C port.
