Sony just confirmed that it will hold its IFA 2018 press conference on August 30, where it is likely to launch the Xperia XZ3 and Xperia XZ3 Compact smartphones. Now, a retailer has jumped the gun by listing the smartphone for pre-order. The listing reveals specifications and price of the smartphone.
The Sony Xperia XZ3 has been listed by a British online retailer, who claims to have the key specifications of the smartphone along with its official price in the UK. The retailer has also put out a pre-order page for the smartphone, but the information needs to be taken with a grain of salt. If the information however is accurate then the we are looking at a flagship smartphone with a 5.9-inch Full HD+ display.
While we have seen GFXBench listing of an upcoming Sony smartphone that pointed at a QHD+ screen, the retailer contradicts that to suggest Sony will stick with Full HD+ display. In the past, the Japanese tech giant has said that there is no value addition in switching to a Quad HD+ panel. The specifications seen on the pre-order page of the Xperia XZ3 seems to have been taken from the Xperia XZ2 except for the camera setup and battery.
The listing claims that Xperia XZ3 will feature dual rear camera setup comprising of 19-megapixel and 12-megapixel sensors, the configuration first seen on the Xperia XZ2 Premium. On the battery front, the smartphone is said to pack a 3,240mAh battery, which will be an improvement from its predecessor. The smartphone is expected to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC coupled with 6GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage. The listing claims that Xperia XZ3 will feature a 13-megapixel front camera while rumors so far suggest that Sony will offer dual camera setup at the front as well.
The online retailer claims that Xperia XZ3 will measure 10.1mm in thickness, which is a millimeter thinner than its predecessor. The pre-order page for the smartphone lists the device at a starting price of €849 (approximately Rs 67,600), which will make it one of the premium devices. It should compete against the upcoming iPhones, Google Pixel 3, and the Samsung Galaxy Note 9.

While the retailer does not have a proven record, the pricing must be taken with skepticism. However, Sony seems to be losing out in the smartphone market with every new release and with Xperia XZ3, it is not clear whether the company has any pedigree left to stay competitive.
