A benchmark listing on GFXBench may have just revealed some of the specifications of the upcoming Sony Xperia XZ3. Although information on Sony’s next flagship device is still scarce for now, the listing gives away some details on what we might expect from the next device by Japanese smartphone maker. Of course, as always, leaks should be taken with a pinch of salt, and the final product may turn out to be entirely different. According to the listing spotted by Sumahoinfo.com, a device with the model number SM H8416 was spotted on GFXBench, although the listing has since been removed. Fortunately, the site was able to capture a screenshot of the listing, and has highlighted some of the key information that can be seen below. The first bit of information you’ll see in the listing is the operating system, mentioned as Android 9.0.0 and further described as a Sony edition of Android. Although Android P has not yet been confirmed to be coming with the 9.0.0 version number, it is the likeliest scenario for the time being, and suggests that the Sony phone here will launch with the next version of Android. The device also features 128GB of internal storage (the listing mentions 112GB, which will be the user-available storage), a 19-megapixel rear camera and 13-megapixel front camera.

The key information that gives away the hint that this is likely the Sony Xperia XZ3 is the chipset. Although unspecified, the clock speed of 2.7GHz, Qualcomm make and Adreno 630 GPU all but give away that this is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset. The flagship SoC likely means that this is a flagship smartphone; this is the biggest indication that we’re talking about the Sony Xperia XZ3.
An earlier leak by Sumahoinfo.com showed a prototype of the purported Xperia XZ3, which sports a dual-camera setup at the back. The GFXBench listing speaks only of a single 19-megapixel camera at the rear. Furthermore, the listing also mentions a 2880×1440-pixel (18:9) 5.9-inch screen, which is different from earlier information that suggested a 6-inch 2160×1080-pixel screen.
Whatever be the case, we’ll likely see the Sony Xperia XZ3 launched at IFA 2018 in Berlin, which is set to take place in the first week of September. Sony could also showcase its new launcher on the phone, after it discontinued development on its Xperia Home UI.
