It s a well known secret that Sony is readying itself with the next installment of Xperia Z series, the Z4. While there is no word on a launch event, the folks at Nowwhereelse have given us the first look at the forthcoming flagship. The leaked photos show how the speakers have been incorporated inside the thin slits at the edges of the smartphone and the remaining things like the front lens position and notification light remain the same. Unsurprisingly the rear is covered in a coat of glass which is reminiscent of the Xperia Z3. The handset sticks to Sony s Omnibalance design language, which is probably why the forthcoming smartphone doesn t look a lot different from its predecessor.
Also evident in the photos are the lack of plastic flaps covering the ports. This could be a hint that Sony is coating the internals to make them water resistant, something that is seen on HTC s Butterfly 2.
From what we have heard so far, the Xperia Z4 will come with a 5.2-inch screen with either full HD or QHD resolution. Recently leaked benchmarks suggest that the smartphone will be powered by a Snapdragon 810 chipset paired with 4GB of RAM as opposed to the 3GB RAM in its predecessor.
Additionally, the front camera is said to have been bumped up to 5-megapixels, while the primary camera will most probably be the same 20.7-megapixel G-lens unit. On the software front the Xperia Z4 will be running Android Lollipop out-of-the-box.
If rumors are to be believed the Xperia Z4 might be launched soon maybe in the next month, but as of now the Japanese company hasn t announced a date.
