Sony has put itself in a habit of releasing two flagships a year. However the struggling smartphone maker might not launch its 2015 flagship smartphone, the Xperia Z4, at MWC this year, as reported by Xperiablog. Earlier this month, Sony CEO Kaz Hirai had hinted that the company is open to the idea of exiting the smartphone business. Xperia Z4 was mentioned in the hacked mail for Bond movie product pitch and Sony confirmed that the iterative upgrade of the Xperia Z3 will be released on May/November of 2015. The other strange thing is that we have not been able to spot any kinds of leaks about the Xperia Z4 which is unlikely given the spot that all the Sony flagships details and images were leaked a couple of months prior to the release. This means that Sony fans wouldn’t be seeing much action in the MWC front this year. Sony is expected to keep promoting the Z3 as the flagship at MWC 2015. Additionally it may also launch a limited edition or a new color schemes for the current Xperia Z3. We may as well just witness launch of entry-level and mid-level device from the Sony stables at MWC.
The news sets us wondering so as to when Sony might actually release the Xperia Z4. It also seems that Sony could be scheduling a dedicated event of its own as there aren’t too many trade shows between now and summer. We would be able to find out about the flagship launch from the Sony stable only in the MWC and it would be interesting to see what will be Unique Selling Point of the Xperia Z3.
