A Reddit user recently spotted that surfacephone.com now gets redirected to Microsoft s surface website. While this does not essentially mean that Microsoft s Surface Phone could launch in the near future, it does hint that the software giant is readying the URL to make it useful, as and when it launches the most awaited smartphone. In the past, Microsoft has also secured other Surface-related domains such as surfacecar.com and surfacelaptop.com, both of which redirect to Surface website. In a recent interview on Windows Weekly podcast, top Microsoft executive confirmed that a breakthrough Surface Phone is in the works.
Microsoft Surface Phone specifications and features: Based on the rumors we ve heard so far, the Surface Phone is likely to flaunta 5.5-inch QHD (1440 2560) AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. Under the hood, it could be powered by Intel s Atom X3 64-bit SoC paired with 4GB of RAM. An important point to note here is that Windows Phone devices till date have exclusively been powered by Qualcomm s Snapdragon chips.
In terms of storage, it could come with 64GB / 128GB internal storage options and a microSD card slot with support for up to 256GB. In terms of camera, the Surface Phone could sport a 21-megapixel camera with PureView lens and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. On the connectivity front, wireless charging support, USB Type-C, Wi-Fi 802.11ac and a Surface Pen with support for pressure-sensitive input are also expected.
