Tanmay Bhat of the comedy group AIB has caused a stir with his controversial Snapchat post. The video uses Snapchat‘s face-swap feature where he has morphed the faces of two Indian legends — Sachin Tendulkar and Lata Mangeshkar. The video is about an argument of Virat Kohli being a better player than Sachin Tendulkar and eventually Lata Mangeshkar comes in the scene. He makes fun of Lata Mangeshkar saying “very respectfully” that she’s “5,000 years old.” He adds on, “Your face looks like someone has kept you in water for eight days.” For Virat Kohli, he uses this line – “Phuck Virat. No, I’m very respectful for Virat. He is very good with bat and ladies.” Also Read - Meta says it got 55,497 requests from Indian govt for user data
He posted this video on his Facebook page and titled it ‘Sachin vs Lata Civil War’. The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) earlier today filed an FIR against the comedian. Things are getting pretty serious now with ACP Yashwant Pathak of the Mumbai Police saying they are in talks with Facebook, Google and Youtube to block the video and also find out the IP address. We can’t help but notice the irony in the cops asking for the IP address when they know who’s behind the video. Well, so much for cyber security. Am absolutely shocked. Disrespect is not cool and neither is it funny. https://t.co/ymYPi9hxuv

Bollywood actors like Anupam Kher, Riteish Deshmukh, and Celine Jaitley were also not pleased with what Tanmay did. However, the comedian already knew that this would happen and even tweeted about it. In a tongue in cheek tweet, he even asked Snapchat to pay him for all the publicity and traffic.
Please pay me @Snapchat

AIB had found itself in a similar controversy last year when they hosted a “roast” featuring Bollywood stars and abusive language. The video was banned just hours after it was released but back then they had their fans supporting them. This time, even their fans do not seem to be amused by this joke.
His disclaimer on Facebook, which read, “I make such nonsense on my Snapchat – follow me there – ID: Thetanmay. Also, I obviously love Lata and Sachin, just having some fun,” obviously did not seem to make any difference.
