Tata Docomo is not the one known for announcing data tariffs to tackle the growth of Reliance Jio. Since it announced its merger with Bharti Airtel, it seemed that the company will not get into the ongoing tariff war but that doesn’t stop Tata Docomo from announcing an updated tariff plan. Docomo has unveiled a Rs 82 plan for its prepaid subcribers in the country that seems to rival Reliance Jio’s Rs 98 data plan unveiled last month. In terms of offering, the Rs 82 plan gives Docomo users unlimited calls, 2GB of 3G data and 100 SMS per day for a period of 28 days. The plan also gives unlimited voice calls on roaming, which is becoming a norm among telcos these days. Also Read - Reliance Jio: How to set caller tune on your smartphone
In comparison, Reliance Jio offers unlimited calls including roaming, 300 SMS and 2GB data for 28 days with recharge of Rs 98. It needs to be noted that Jio offers 2GB data at 4G speeds while Docomo only supports 3G but it might actually be better for most users due to the intra-circle roaming agreement with Bharti Airtel.
TelecomTalk reports that the data plan is already active in Tamil Nadu circle, but there is no clarity on whether it is a segmented offer or one available via open market. On recharge of Rs 82, Docomo users will get the above mentioned benefits but voice calls are limited to 250 minutes per day and post that, customers will be charged at 30 paise per minute.
Tata Docomo has also announced Rs 179 prepaid tariff plan, which gives unlimited voice calls including calls on roaming, 1.4GB data at 3G speeds per day and 100 SMS per day. Like other telecom operators, Docomo also offers tariff plans priced at Rs 349, Rs 499 with 1.4GB data per day and validity of 56 days and 90 days respectively.
The offer can be availed by downloading the Tata Docomo app, and checking for the same in offers section. Yesterday, Bharti Airtel launched Rs 9 data plan which is now the cheapest one-day plan available in the country. The tariff war has grown to such a level that there is almost a new or updated tariff plan everyday and yes, consumers are the biggest winners.
