This service is applicable for both prepaid and postpaid users on Tata Docomo s GSM and CDMA networks. Any users with an Android, Java, Symbian or BlackBerry can opt for it. Users won t incur any data charges either, as these advertisements are also available when connected to Wi-Fi. Once enabled, users will be offered one free minute for every advisement viewed.
As advertisers seek newer avenues to communicate with their target audiences, the mobile device offers very ubiquitous, highly measurable and focused engagement platform, Tata Docomo s Harsh Saxena said. In an increasingly cluttered advertising environment the GET service will provide our customers targeted opportunities and facilitate brand engagement possibility at personal level.
To activate the service, feature phone users can send the word GET in an SMS to 52323 or give a missed call to 52323. Smartphone users on the other hand, will be able to download the GET app from one’s respective app store.
This is an interesting take on mobile advertisement and we will have to wait and see if it is whole-heartedly accepted by the audience. Aircel too had launched something similar, when it tried cashing in on the IPL fever by offering CSK fans with extra talktime.
