The rise and (ever-growing) popularity of social media networks may have provided people the opportunity to connect with each other, but these digital tools have to be used responsibly. However, there are still some clueless folks out there, who believe they can get away with saying (or more specifically, posting) whatever they can, without any repercussions. That’s clearly not the case, since controversial comments made on social media platforms can not only cause problems in someone’s personal life, but also destroy their professional career for good.

In one such incident, an employee of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), one of India’s premier IT outsourcing companies, was recently fired after threatening two women on social media. The now-fired employee, who worked in Kolkata, threatened the women with death and sexual abuse, ET reports. After screenshots of his expletive-laced rants went viral on Facebook and Twitter, TCS launched an investigation into the issue. Finding irrefutable evidence, the employee was sacked by the company.

“At TCS, we have zero tolerance towards any act that goes against our core values. The employee has been relieved with immediate effect,” a TCS spokesperson was quoted as saying by the ET report.

The employee couldn’t be reached for any comment(s), since he has deleted all of his social media accounts after the incident.
