The Google Doodle today shows a spinning globe with a spectacle that is surrounded by many subjects. The subjects shown in the doodle include sports, music, astronomy, chemistry, geometry, and biology to name a few. The icons depicting all these subjects are meant to depict the knowledge that teachers impart on us, and how they are often not restricted to books. Teacher’s Day is a special day for the appreciation of teachers and in India, it is celebrated on September 5 while World Teacher’s day is celebrated on October 5. In India, the birthday of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, which falls of September 5, is also celebrated as Teacher’s Day. Teacher’s Day is being marked on September 5 since 1962, and it is often the day when people honor the teaching community. The day is also celebrated as Guru Purnima, an Indian festival dedicated to spiritual and academic teachers being celebrated on the full Moon day in the month of Ashadha as per Hindu calendar.
Today is the day when you can go back and thank that one or many teachers who played a pivotal role in your academics. On this day, schools and colleges give tributes to their teachers for their efforts to educate us and gain all the knowledge that is necessary to become a better human. A teacher is mostly the first person from whom we gain knowledge and learn new things right from our childhood.
