Telenor has been MIA in the telecom playfield for a while now. However, right after the recent announcement of the company’s merger with Airtel India, Telenor seems to have returned with a very competitive new prepaid pack for its users. Telenor has launched a new Rs 349 pack for its prepaid users, which offers 1GB of data every day, along with unlimited calls to any network. The prepaid pack has a validity of 56 days. However, the plan does not offer any free SMS along with it. While that may be a let down on the surface since most operators throw 100 free SMS with almost all recharge packs, it’s actually to see how much one uses SMS anymore. In addition to that, while the voice calls within Telenor network is absolutely free, there are a few FUP limits on the calls made on other networks. Voice calls made to other networks has a limit of 300 minutes per day and 1,200 minutes per week. Though, voice calls on roaming are free too. This prepaid pack very closely competes with a similar one offered by Reliance Jio. As compared to this one, at Rs 349 Reliance Jio offers 1.5GB data per day, unlimited voice calls without any FUP limit and 100 SMS per day. And the Jio pack comes with a validity of 70 days.

Similarly, Airtel also offers a Rs 349 plan, wherein it offers unlimited voice calls, 2.5GB data per day and 100 SMS per day. While that has more daily data, but the plana has much shorter validity of 28 days. However, when compared to both Airtel and Jio plans, Telenor’s plan either falls short of data benefit, SMS benefit or validity benefit.
