Telecom operator Telenor has launched two special schemes for unlimited music and video streaming.
The first scheme is priced at Rs 2 per day, which allows users to stream unlimited videos on DailyMotion and YouTube from 11:00PM to 7:00AM. One caveat, however, is that the speed for the same will be restricted to 150 kbps-200 kbps. Beyond the mentioned time, users will be charged at 2p/20kb, till Rs 5, after which, video streaming for rest of the day will be free.
The company also announced another scheme priced in the Rs 41 to Rs 52 range, which allows users to stream unlimited music on Hungama and Eros Now Music. The validity of this pack will be for 28 days.
“At night, voice traffic is low and we will be able to provide speeds between 150 kbps and 200 kbps. We are also using various compression and caching technologies to improve the experience. Users can save videos for offline viewing or can even download them at night to view them the next day without any buffering,” Telenor India CPO Amaresh Kumar said.
Telenor India also announced free life insurance cover for its existing 47.55 million as well as potential new customers across its six operating circles. The Telecom operator announced that they have issued 15 lakh free life insurance policies in October under a life cover scheme, and over 50 lakh customers have registered themselves.
In August this year, Telenor Group also received an in-principle’ approval from Reserve Bank of India to setup a payments bank in India. Telecom service provider Uninor has also recently rebranded itself as Telenor in India.
