Among Android smartphones, Google s upcoming Nexus 5 will be the best gaming phone in the world if and when it finally launches. Factor in other mobile platforms, however, and Apple s new iPhone 5s still wears the crown. According to Rightware s Power Board database, which compiles benchmark test scores and compares them, Google s unannounced Nexus 5 scores an incredibly impressive 14.27 on the Basemark X gaming graphics performance test. The next closest widely available Android handset is Samsung s flagship Galaxy S4, which scores an 8.20. In fact, the only handset on the planet that racked up a better score is the aforementioned iPhone 5s, which managed a 15.54 for the top rank in the world. Google s Nexus 5 is shaping up to be an absolute beast, with specs highlighted by a 4.95-inch full HD display, a quad-core 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, an 8-megapixel camera with optical image stabilization, 16GB or 32GB of storage, 2GB of RAM and Android 4.4 KitKat. But even though Apple s iPhone 5s only packs a dual-core processor and other seemingly tame specs, it still manages to slaughter every other smartphone on the planet in most key performance tests.
As for Google s Nexus 5, the impressive (and shockingly affordable) smartphone is expected to debut tonight.
