It is the end of the world as we know it. The Internet is fighting over the colour of a dress. The big looming question, “Which Colour is this Dress?” has got people hoarding Photoshop and decoding the fabric, colour scheme, eyesight tricks and everything else possible in this sunlit world. Twitter came up with hashtags like #TheDress and #DressGate2015 in a bid to pin down an answer to the biggest and most important question – Is it black and blue or white and gold? It all started by an innocent Tumblr user, who was having a healthy debate with her friends over the colour of the dress. What followed was serious deconstruction of the dress by netizens, journalists, and graphic nerds. Wired did a whole bunch of research on the physiology of the eye, sunlight, rays, and graphic software experiments to ascertain that the dress is really black and blue. Buzzfeed, which initially broke this news, also reported that a girl named Caitlin McNeill actually saw the dress and confirmed that it was black and blue. “We all saw the dress in all its glory and realized it was of course blue and black,” she told the publication. All evidence points to black and blue (although, I still see white and gold!), and the Internet is raging at how vision has conned them. Not surprisingly, smartphone companies are cashing on this viral trend, and coming up with marketing gimmicks on Twitter to grab some eyeballs.

Here are some of the best tweets from Twitter to give you a sense of the heavy (did i mention, extremely important?) debate that is underway.
