Tinu Cherian Abraham, the prominent communications professional and social media influencer, has quit ride-hailing startup Ola to join HARMAN India. Abraham joined Ola in January this year and will lead HARMAN India as Senior Manager for Corporate Communications starting next week.
HARMAN is the company behind the popular JBL range of audio products, which counts AR Rahman as its brand ambassador. Abraham will be responsible for all internal and external communications and will report directly to the director and head of corporate communication at HARMAN India, reports PRmoment.
Tinu Abraham holds an Electronics and Communications Engineering degree and made an early switch to become a PR professional. He has over 13 years experience in the industry and is recognised as one of the 40 Under 40 top PR professionals in the country. He has worked with companies such as Infosys, Cisco Systems, Juniper Networks, UST Global and Wikimedia India in the past. After working as Software Engineer with Infosys and Cisco, Abraham joined Wikimedia as Head of Communications in 2011. He became full-time PR professional after joining UST Global in August 2013.
Abraham’s exit comes amidst Ola Cabs push to better compete with rival Uber in India. Ola Cabs recently announced Ola Pedal, a bet to revolutionise bicycle rides within college campuses to begin with. The move rivals similar offering from ZoomCar, which inroduced a similar platform dubbed ‘Pedl’ few weeks back. Ola’s Pedal service will be available in Bangalore, Chennai and Kolkata and include 500 cycles. Ola is also venturing into electric cars and has partnered Mahindra to offer company’s e2O for green rides on its platform.
With audio gears evolving constantly with focus on noise cancellation and new listening experience in the form of truly wireless earbuds, JBL will be joining the fray with its own offerings. The company’s last major launch in India was Flip 4 and it has also launched assistant powered smart speakers in collaboration with Google.
