Adblock, the software company that allows users to block ads from websites, today announced it was launching its own browser for Android devices. The company earlier had the Adblock Plus for Android, but it was thrown out of the Play Store by Google for interfering with other services.
Adblock Plus could also block ads only from unencrypted (HTTP) pages and not from secure pages. In order to solve both problems, the company has launched Adblock Browser for Android devices.
The browser is based on Firefox for Android and is currently available on beta. Adblock says that Firefox browser is the most open browser out there but unlike the desktop browser, Firefox for Android user interface didn’t make it easy to embed Adblock. Instead, it built a custom browser.
By having its own browser, Adblock won’t have to face Google’s wrath for interfering with other services. It is currently in beta and you can try it out by joining the Adblock Browser Community on Google+.
