Having a digital system in place means that the authorities do not have to seize the original documents of the car or the person in case of impounding the vehicle. They can simply access the government’s Vahan or Saarthi database through the eChallan system to get the necessary details. Not just that, insurance details of a new vehicle or even an old vehicle will also be available on the Vahan database. The information will be updated by the Insurance Information Board on a daily basis and the same will also reflect on the mParivahan and eChallan app.
