The new feature is available within Truecaller Pay and users can send the request to other Truecaller users. Once the other party receives the request via a notification, they can tap on it and make payments. For completing the transaction, one needs to enter the registered MPIN when prompted. In addition to this, Truecaller users can also create shareable payment links. These links can be sent to other users via different platforms like SMS, email, messaging apps, or post it publically on websites. On clicking the said link, the user will be taken to the Truecaller app where the payment can be completed.
This feature is something that has been around on mobile carrier services. When users are on low balance, mobile operators offer options like taking a credit or sending an emergency SMS to contacts for a loan of balance. Similarly, on Truecaller, users can now send alerts to their contacts in cases of emergency. The Virtual Payment Address (VPA) of recipients are attached to the phone book so that transactions can be done swiftly. The mobile number registered on Truecaller app needs to be registered with their respective bank account for Truecaller Pay. ALSO READ: Truecaller for Android integrates Google Duo for video calling
In addition to sending and receiving money via UPI, one can also check their account balance and recharge their mobile connections. The recharge option is available within Truecaller Pay and the same verification process needs to be followed to use this service. Mobile recharges are so far restricted to prepaid connections only, and postpaid bill payments haven’t been integrated as yet.
