Truecaller, one of the most widely used call identification apps, is now getting a major update on Android. The app with version number 9.4.10 is being pushed out as an official update on Google Play Store. The update weighs around 20.47MB in total and it brings a number of changes to the application.

The update brings an all-new Block section which makes it easier to manage your blocked contacts or numbers. It also fixes the bug that did not read the command when you marked certain SMS as read. This update further simplifies the way you manage contacts blocked using the application. The update adds one major feature after adding support for Google Drive backup and fixed major bugs in February.

Truecaller is one of the major services on Android allowing users to block contacts they don’t want any communication from. The application has been installed over 100 million times via Google Play Store and comes with features like Caller ID, SMS, spam blocking and even mobile payments. Truecaller claims that 25 crore people trust its service for their communication needs such as blocking spam calls and getting caller ID.

It also has a nifty feature called Flash messaging where users can share location, emoji and status in a flash with their friends. It automatically blocks spam and telemarketing SMS and can be configured to block by name and number series. Truecaller recently jumped on the bandwagon of UPI-based mobile payments.

It supports BHIM-based UPI transactions and uses ICICI Bank’s security protocol to enable secure transaction. Though it is one of the most downloaded Android app, it has seen its fair share of controversy. The application was on the list of banned apps imposed by Home Ministry for personnel of the Indian Army. The Sweden-based company had to clarity that it is not malware and all of its features are permission-based and disabled by default. It recently acquired Chillr to roll out credit and financial services in India.
