The Twitter support page concerning DMs had up until today, a message that the company was updating its backend and infrastructure. Now the support page has detailed information telling you that DMs can share URLs again, and even lets you know that all links shared via DMs will be shortened automatically. Last week, Twitter had announced that it would be rolling out an update soon with many new features including an improvement to direct messages. The report also indicated that Twitter is also expected to roll out private sharing of public tweets via DMs this week.
The upcoming update aims to bring better and personalized content to its users. It will be adding features like native video shooting and editing, and filters for surfacing relevant tweets.
Another addition that will be seen with the update is Instant Timeline, which will cater users with interesting content from people they don t even follow. The company also plans to introduce a feature called While You Were Away, which will show users all the interesting tweets they missed while they were away. It promises that every time you open the Twitter app, you ll see something great.
CEO Dick Costolo also announced that the company will invest in new apps to expand their product portfolio.
