Back in March last year, Twitter started a local trends system for a select number of Indian metros like Mumbai, New Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Ahmadabad . The micro-blogging site today announced that this functionality had been expanded to now let users see what topics are trending in 21 Indian cities. These 21 cities were a part of over 160 new locations where Twitter trends have been introduced. Also Read - Assassin's Creed Valhalla Siege of Paris DLC releasing next month
Apart from the metros earlier covered under this system, Twitter trends is now also available in Tier-2 cities like Amritsar, Bhopal, Indore, Jaipur, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Nagpur, Patna, Pune Rajkot, Ranchi, Srinagar, Surat and Thane.
Twitter trends is a system that lets users look for topics that are trending in the world at that particular time, but with the local trends feature also lets them customize the section to show what people in one s locality are talking about. The addition of Tier-2 cities suggests that Twitter is becoming popular beyond key metro cities.
