Twitter has shared list of the topics and accounts that tweeted about the biggest Twitter Moments of India in 2018. From #MeToo to #Sarkar, #IPL, state elections, and everyday interests, Indians flocked to Twitter to find out what’s happening in the world and to talk about it.
Indian Footballer Sunil Chhetri’s candid plea for supporting the Indian football team emerged as the most retweeted tweet in 2018 in India. The video tweet from Chhetr (@chetrisunil11) got retweeted around 60,000 times, says Twitter.
From Football to Cricket, and Indians loved whatever was shared on the Twitter in 2018. Virat Kohli’s picture with his wife Anushka Sharma on the occasion of Karvachauth won several hearts on Twitter with over 215,000 likes. It became the most liked tweet of 2018.
The return of Chennai Super Kings with #WhistlePodu was also one of the popular events on Twitter last year. Also, the serious issues like #MeToo wave in India added to the top hashtag trends. Twitter India has shared the 10 biggest hashtags in India in 2018.
“People in India and all over the world come to Twitter every day to have conversations and to find out and catch up on what’s happening in the world. Whatever happened, in every corner of the world, and on any topic imaginable, it happened on Twitter in 2018,” noted Twitter India in press statement.
Apart from #WhistlePodu, #MeToo and #IPL2018, South Indian films #Sarkar, #Viswasam, #BharatAneNenu, #AravindhaSametha, #Rangasthalam, #Kaala and TV show #BiggBossTelugu2 clinched seven of the top 10 Hashtags this year.
