Uber will now send push notifications to users of its UberPool ride-sharing service which will help them get ready to be picked up in time. Other than the notifications for the riders, drivers can also keep a check on when the riders board the cab and if they are late, the driver can collect a no-show fee. In its blog, Uber notes key improvements through its new update. The app has now added real-time instructions and updates for riders. Riders will now get updates like be ready outside, and leaving shortly along with updated push notifications to remind them to be ready and notify them that their ride will shortly depart. For the driver side of the app, Uber has built a new timer. When a driver arrives at the pickup location the timer counts down from 2 minutes. This will have a detailed breakdown for time, distance, and surge.
Lastly, UberPool will now come with automatic trip upgrades and predictive matching. The app has been updated with a feature that looks for better matches even after an initial match has been made. This will be done based on historical trip data to find a more convenient match on your route. Details of such upgrades will be notified to riders and drivers via push notifications.
