Uber may still be banned in Delhi, but it is business as usual for the taxi aggregating company. In fact, the company is going on an offensive and has announced a promotional offer wherein you can take a ride for as low as Rs 4.2 per kilometer.

The offer rate is much lower than what you normally get in Delhi. Without the offer, a ride in an UberX costs Rs 9 per kilometer with a base far of Rs 55, while a ride in an Uber Black costs Rs 12 per kilometer with the base far at Rs 85.

The promo offer has kicked off today and will be eligible till June 26. When booking a cab, enter the Promo code DELHI40 to get the 40 percent discount on your rides. The offer is only applicable between 12:00PM and 4:00PM, and for only two trips per person on a given day.

Uber users in Delhi are also entitled to the company’s “league of Uber Neighborhood Love cities” offer. As a part of this initiative, customers taking a ride between June 18 and June 28 will get exclusive offers at Delhi’s Greater Kailash. All one needs to do is head to one of the partner businesses, and flash the Uber receipt to get a pre-selected freebie.

While these initiatives do sound tempting, there is no hiding the bitter truth that Uber is currently banned in the national capital. The Delhi government had earlier rejected Uber’s license application. While competitors like Ola and TaxiForSure have got some manner of relief, Uber is yet to get any. In fact, the Delhi Traffic police were on a drive to challan Uber drivers — and impound the cabs in some cases — for illegally plying in the state.
