If you are a frequent cab rider, there must have been an instance or two where you left something in the cab. As for me, I have left a bunch of stuff in the last 2-3 years of taking a cab daily. I have left a pair of heels, a piece of clothing, a pen, once my spare phone too which the nice driver had returned, and i think a pen, and once a bag of groceries. Yes, I am a bit forgetful. However, if you think I am the only forgetful cab rider in the country, you need to think again. Uber created a Lost & Found Index to see what exactly gets left behind in Ubers, and the list includes just about any and everything — even puppies. Uber also found that phones and rings are the two most commonly forgotten items, with chargers and sunglasses rounding out the top 10. Riders have also left everything from bulletproof vests and potted plants, to pool sticks and kites (and did we mention the puppies?).
However, here is where things get interesting, specifically to India, the weirdest things an Uber rider has left in a cab is a Rs 15 lakh cheque. And the list of top 10 most unique thing left in an Uber in India includes, a keyboard, puppies (!!), an expensive watch, expensive footwear, liquor bottles, wooden planks, a cabbage, grocery bags, and Cricket bats.
Uber also has a list of dates in 2016, when the maximum reports of lost was filed in India. December 31, 2016 tops this list, followed by December 11, December 27, November 27, and December 12. Quite obviously, December 2016 was also the most forgetful month in India. ALSO READ: Uber India launches new cognitive security feature called real-time ID check
Internationally, Uber also took a look at the frequency that certain lost items were reported as missing. Turns out, some items are more likely to be lost on certain days when compared to the rest of the week. So according to the data put together, on Sundays, Uber saw the biggest spike in lost wedding dresses. On a Monday, most skateboards are lost. On Tuesdays, people leave swimsuits a lot. Wednesdays most notebooks are left behind. Thursdays see the biggest spike in lost suitcases. And probably tired of the week, Fridays the most briefcases are left behind, and Saturdays, people lose the most number of plane tickets.
