Uber riders can now update their pickup location after they have booked a cab even if they mistakenly requested a pickup from an incorrect location. The update is now being rolled out in India on both iOS and Android. The cab aggregator piloted the new feature in selected cities before an official roll out and noticed fewer cancellations in booking. To make changes to your pickup location, once the driver is en route, you can tap onto ‘edit’ button placed next to the pickup location. Enter the new pick up location and confirm. Once the pickup location is updated, the driver gets notified and the route is updated automatically for him to navigate to the rider.
Pickups are one of the hardest parts of the experience to get right, and they re especially difficult when riders accidentally request a pickup from the wrong place. It often begins with a phone call and ends with a canceled ride. A small miscue can lead to a frustrating situation where riders aren t riding, and drivers aren t earning, said Ryan Yu, Software Engineer, and Rachel Holt, Regional General Manager, US & Canada at Uber in a blog post.
