Reports of Uber, TaxiForSure and Olacabs going off the roads in Delhi have been doing the rounds, with ISPs blocking the websites to prevent booking of cabs in the city. However, a person close to the matter has just confirmed to BGR India that the three aggregators have not been informed of any such ban, and the app and the website of the companies are functioning perfectly.

We personally even booked an Uber to double check, and the service is alive and running. Olacabs and TaxiForSure have also not pulled back their services and are actively offering their services on the roads of Delhi, with their website not blocked yet. The source has confirmed that the company has not received any notice from the Department of Transport authorities over the blocking of its website.

Financial Express reported last night, that the DoT has blocked the websites of the three aggregators, and that Delhi users will not be able to access them to book cabs.

The report says that the DoT has issued a directive to all Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to block these websites, and when the publication contacted some of the ISPs, they even confirmed that they have received the government’s directive and will comply with the same soon.

The source however says that the DoT had merely sent a formal request to the ISPs asking them if the three aggregators can be blocked specifically in Delhi. However, the ISPs wrongly took it as an order, resulting in this ambiguity.
