In a massive business move, Uber has slashed fares of all its service offerings in India. Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Jaipur and other cities have now got prices slashed by as much 76 percent for its Uber Go, UberX and UberBLACK services.

This price slash is seen as a move to get back customer popularity and trust, in order to keep itself relevant in India. Apart from conducting creative marketing gimmicks like chopper rides and puppy donation drives, the company has tried hard to gain back the lost trust after the Delhi rape fallout. They have introduced a slew of safety features, including an emergency in-app button. They have even partnered with a third-party company to screen drivers more rigorously.

We’ve listed out the price cuts for major cities. For Mumbai the slashed prices are Rs 8 per kilometre for Uber Go, Rs 10 per kilometre for UberX and Rs 12 per kilometre for UberBLACK. It is important to note that this price is excluding the base fare which ranges from Rs 20- Rs 40 in different cities. Therefore, the minimum fare in Mumbai amounts to Rs 60 in Uber Go, Rs 100 in UberX and Rs 150 in UberBLACK.

For Delhi, the slashed prices are Rs 7 per kilometre for Uber Go, Rs 9 per kilometre for UberX and Rs 12 per kilometre for UberBLACK. The minimum fare in Delhi will amount to Rs 50 in Uber Go, Rs 80 in UberX and Rs 100 in UberBLACK.

For Hyderabad, the slashed prices are Rs 7 per kilometre for Uber Go, and Rs 9 per kilometre for UberX. The minimum fare in Hyderabad will amount to Rs 50 in Uber Go and Rs 80 in UberX.

For Chandigarh, the slashed prices are Rs 5 per kilometre for Uber Go and Rs 7 per kilometre for UberX. The minimum fare in Chandigarh will amount to Rs 35 in Uber Go and Rs 50 in UberX.

For Ahmedabad, the slashed prices are Rs 7 per kilometre for Uber Go and Rs 7 per kilometre for UberX. The minimum fare in Ahmedabad will amount to Rs 35 in Uber Go and Rs 50 in UberX.

For Bangalore the slashed prices are Rs 7 per kilometre for Uber Go, Rs 8 per kilometre for UberX and Rs 13 per kilometre for UberBLACK. The minimum fare in Bangalore will amount to Rs 50 in Uber Go, Rs 70 in UberX and Rs 120 in UberBLACK.

These slashed prices will give immense competition to services like Olacabs which even though run at a higher per kilometre rate, have low base rates. In Mumbai, Olacabs run at a rate of Rs 21 per kilometre for Sedan, and Rs 15 per kilometre for its Mini services. The minimum fare in Mumbai will amount to Rs 100 in Olacabs Mini and Rs 150 in Olacabs Sedan, which are almost similar to Uber’s slashed prices in Mumbai.

Meru cabs is expensive than both Uber and Olacabs in terms of per kilometre rate, but the company does not have a base rate. The per kilometre charges of Meru are Rs 20 for its base cab variants and Rs 23 for its Flexi  service in Mumbai.

We’ve done a comparison of prices the three cab services in Mumbai and Delhi for your better understanding:
