UC Browser is now claiming to be the No.1 third-party mobile browser in India based on a report by StatsCounter. It says that in July is surpassed Opera’s market share by capturing 30 percent of the market. The company notes the growth of Android powers smartphones in the country citing a massive 117 percent growth of UC Browser on Android based smartphones. In particular the company notes the dominance of Samsung’s Android smartphones and says that 16 out of 20 people using UC Browser use it on a Samsung smartphone. Most of the people using UC browser in India use Android smartphones that cost between $100 and $200. The company notes that over 60 percent page views come from Facebook and 7 percent from Google Search. UC Browser claimed that in a survey 63 percent of its Indian users watched videos and average watching time for 41 percent of the respondents was more than an hour. The company also claimed 71 percent of the participants in its survey preferred downloading videos than watching them online.
19 percent people in UC’s survey claimed that the main reason for using the browser was the fast page load times,and 18 percent people liked its downloading functionality.
