Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will be presenting his third Union Budget at the Parliament today, and his presentation kicks off at 11:00AM IST today. The presentation will be telecast on various television channels, but in case you are not in front of the TV, you can either live stream it or follow the real-time updates on social media.
With this year’s budget, Jaitley will be looking at means to boost public spending for higher growth. Tax reforms will be among the top agendas, with startups and businesses looking at some sort of roadmap for the roll out of GST. Experts also say that the government is likely to introduce new cess to fund initiatives such as Start up India and Digital India, similar to the Swachh Bharat cess levied last year.
Speaking of Digital India, manufacturers will be expecting more incentives on local manufacturing, and exports. The government is also expected to announce measures that encourage the smartphone companies to easily penetrate tier 2 and tier 3 towns, which will lead to mobile phone and Internet adoption across the country.
