Unknown Russian app installs itself on Samsung Androids, refuses to uninstall

If you are a Samsung Android user (Including me), today frankly is not a very nice day. In fact, chances are that you woke with your device having an unknown Russian Email app called ‘MTC Mobile Mail’ which could be a carrier of malicious software. How did this happen? Well, the guys at XDA-Forums have figured that the Google Play store tends to update applications on the basis of ‘App IDs’ and this very app shares the very same app ID as the native Samsung Email app shipped with TouchWiz (Not the GMAIL app). While there is no clarity over the malicious nature of the app, the fact that it pops up on ones device out of no where and refuses to uninstall, frankly sends shivers down ones spine. Having said this, the people at XDA-Forums note that the app ID used by the app is by ‘Seven’ – A developer of several Windows Mobile apps, and also happens to power Samsung’s Email client, so perhaps Google might have green signaled the app ID and since  Google Play updates apps on the basis of app IDs, the service could confused the Samsung Email client with MTC Mobile mail. Frankly, Google has to get its act together. Google Play should not have confused a minor update with a random application and the fact that the app refuses to uninstall itself it kind of irksome, if not worrying. As of now, there is no clear cut way of uninstalling the app, but if you really want to get rid of it desperately, prepare to get you hands dirty as the boys at the XDA-Forums have some old school hacking tips which might help get rid of this unwelcome guest.
