The rivalry between Apple and Samsung is almost as long as the battle between iOS and Android. Over the years, the two companies have launched numerous competing smartphones (and tablets) to demonstrate their technological advancements. A decade has passed since the first Galaxy S, and the original iPhone landed, but the fight is far from over.

With the recent launch of Galaxy Note 9, Samsung has already made its move in 2018. The latest and greatest in Samsung’s long-running Note line-up, the Galaxy Note 9 is arguably the most-powerful and versatile Android smartphone you can buy. Much of the Galaxy Note 9’s versatility comes from the S-Pen, which is the single most-important feature that differentiates Samsung’s Galaxy Note series from countless other Android flagships.

It’s Apple’s turn now, and it seems that the Cupertino-based company may have just what it needs to counter the Chaebol’s latest offensive.

In just a month, Apple’s expected to announce the 2018 line-up of iPhones. Thanks to the steady stream of leaks and rumors, we already know about the three models, and even have a “fairly-accurate” idea of what they’ll look like. But it seems there’s just ‘one more thing’ Apple has in store for us – stylus support.

If a report from research agency TrendForce is to be believed, Apple’s upcoming iPhones will have support for the Apple Pencil, the company’s own stylus that acts as a companion input accessory for its iPad tablets.

It does sound exciting, but even if it’s true, this means that the 2018 iPhones will support Apple Pencil that the company already sells for the iPads. That’s because shrinking down the stylus’ size to the size of the soon-to-be-announced iPhones would imply that it’s possible to dock them inside the smartphones (like the Galaxy Note smartphones have always done). However, a recent video of mockups of 2018 iPhones has all but confirmed that none of the three models has the provision/space to stow away a stylus.

TrendForce’s report also says that Apple may introduce a 512GB internal storage variant for its upcoming iPhone(s). Since the 6.1-inch (LCD) model is supposed to be a budget model, it’s very much possible that only the 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch (both OLED) variants will have that storage option. All said, it’s good we just have to wait for a month (or so) to find out what surprises Apple has in store.
