Starting today, Google Photos app and web version will show you a new ‘Movie’ option under the Assistant label. From here, you can choose from nine movie themes to create a clip with all your favorite photos. The themes include ‘Meow Movie’, ‘Doggie Movie’, and the special ‘Valentine’s Day Movie’. As explained in the official blog, earlier Google Photos automatically created these movies for you. But now, you can create your own custom movie. If you are not satisfied with Google’s themed movie, you can always edit it in the app.
To create a themed movie, open the Google Photos app, go to the Assistant tab, and tap Movie. Once you have chosen the theme of your liking, Google will use machine learning to sift through your library and select photos corresponding to the theme, and then add a soundtrack to finish the movie. If you want to edit the clip, you can do so using the movie editor in the app version of Google Photos.
The themed movies are rolling out in most countries today, and Google promises to add more movie themes throughout the year. You can create the themed movie from the iOS or Android app. You can also use the web version of Google Photos, however, movies created on the web version will not allow you to edit.
