Verizon has announced its plan to offer fixed home broadband service based on 5G network from next month. The US-based wireless carrier will offer its 5G broadband in four cities: Houston, Indianapolis, Los Angeles and Sacramento. The new service is called Verizon 5G Home and will be available to current Verizon Wireless customers in these four cities. The New York-based telecom carrier plans to offer the service for $50 per month to existing subscribers and new customers will be charged $70 per month. As VentureBeat reports, the confirmation and availability detail puts an end to two of the biggest mysteries around Verizon’s fixed 5G broadband service. Verizon adds that more information about the service will be available starting September 13 at 8AM from a new website Also Read - Jio introduces Jio Welcome Offer in Pune as users get access to its True 5G network

The website will also give an opportunity to preorder for interested 5G customers in those four cities. Interestingly, customers who sign up for the service will get Verizon 5G Home for free for first three months. After the free three months, Verizon’s existing wireless subscribers with a qualifying smartphone plan will have to pay $50 per month and others will be charged $70 per month.

The pricing will be inclusive of all taxes and fees and does not come with any contractual terms unlike smartphone plans. Verizon is promising that customers in these four cities will have no additional hardware costs and can experience networks speeds around 300Mbps. Depending on location, the 5G home broadband service will be able to deliver peak speed of 1Gbps without any data cap.

Verizon is simply executing on its plans announced at the start of 2018 and it will be the first telecom player to bring 5G broadband to home users. Verizon is fighting with AT&T in the mobile space with AT&T claiming to begin service across 12 US cities using mobile hotspot instead of actual devices.
