Viber today announced a new update for its iOS and Android apps. Viber 5.5 brings in a bunch of new features, animated stickers, and a better video calling experience among others. Viber is improving the way users share stuff via messaging. One can now share contacts with their friends via messages. The recipient will not only see the number, but also name and photo, as well as an option to quickly save it to their contact list. Viber says that nearly 250 million video calls are made via the app every month, and with the latest update it wants to make the experience much better. One can easily initiate a video call from the contacts list or the recent call menu. The company also says that it is improving the call quality, while reducing the amount of data it uses at the same time.

With the latest update, Viber is also introducing animated stickers that will line up alongside the 500 stickers already available on the app. These new stickers include characters from Disney s new movie Inside Out, emoticons, and Viber s characters including Violet, Freddie, Eve, Legcat, and Rudy.
Lastly, the Viber update makes use of iOS Handoff feature, and by syncing the app across iPhone, iPad or Mac, you will be able to answer call or reply to messages on any one of these platforms. The app UI for Android tablets and Windows desktops too have been improved.
