Even though Apple hasn t announced a date so far, the company is expected to unveil its 2018 line-up of iPhones sometime in September.
Courtesy of a steady stream of leaks and rumors in the past few months, we already know that Apple will be launching as many as three new iPhone this year. Now, a video uploaded by YouTuber DetroitBORG may just have given us the best look at Apple s iPhones trio. The video shows three dummy iPhones provided to DetroitBORG by Australian tipster Sonny Dickson. According to the YouTuber, the dummies shown in his video are fairly accurate replicas of the upcoming iPhones, and hence is the closest we ll get to seeing the three smartphones before they re made official.
Seeing the devices in the video (embedded above), the first thing that stands out is that all three of them have the infamous notch, which debuted with last year s iPhone X. This essentially means that the entire 2018 line-up of iPhones will forgo Touch ID in favor of Face ID.
The three dummy units in the video have different screen sizes 5.8-inch, 6.1-inch, and 6.5-inch. In line with previous rumors, these are referred to as iPhone X (2018), iPhone 9, and iPhone X Plus, respectively. Of these, the 6.1-inch variant has a single rear camera, while the other two feature dual-camera systems at the back. All three units appear to have glass back panels, so it s very much possible that all of them will continue to support wireless charging.
DetroitBORG notes that the 5.8-inch new variant will essentially be last year s iPhone X, updated with 2018 hardware to bring it up to speed with the other two models. The video also shows the three dummies to feature the same form factor.
Perhaps the most interesting of the iPhone is the 6.1-inch variant, which has been often referenced as iPhone 9 in many leaks and rumors, since it ll essentially succeed iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. The 6.1-inch version might also have an aluminium frame, as opposed to the stainless-steel frames of the 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch variants. It s also seen in the video as having slightly thicker bezels than the smallest and biggest dummies.
Previous rumors have hinted that of Apple s three new iPhones, the 6.1-inch will have an LCD panel, while the 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch versions will come with OLED panels. Nonetheless, it ll be interesting to see what surprise(s) Apple has up its sleeve when the company launches its 2018 iPhone line-up in September.
