Vistara today announced a new feature that is not only a time-saver for passengers, but also is environmentally friendly. In partnership with Mumbai International Airport Pvt. Ltd (MIAL), Vistara has introduced a mobile boarding pass facility.
As the name suggests, the mobile boarding facility will nullify the need to print boarding passes on paper. Passengers can either head to the airlines’ website or mobile app to do a web checkin. Once you have entered your name, PNR number and selected your preferred seat, you will need to click ‘Get mobile boarding pass’.
You will then receive a link via SMS, which will have the mobile boarding pass. Save a screenshot of the boarding pass on your smartphone, which you will need to show at the boarding desk in the airport. You will also need to show a valid id along with the boarding pass. This facility is currently only available for passengers travelling out of Mumbai’s T2 terminal to New Delhi, Bangalore, Ahmadabad or Goa.
“We continually look for ways to enhance our customers’ travel experience by harnessing the power of technology and offering operational and service excellence. I am proud to see our promise of seamless travel experience being reaffirmed with this initiative of providing our customers with the mobile boarding pass option,” Phee Teik Yeoh, CEO, Vistara said. “We are extremely pleased to partner with MIAL and we look forward to offering these capabilities across our existing and upcoming route network.”
It is an interesting concept, and is something that will ease travelling for frequent fliers. This is by no means a unique concept though, and Jet Airways ran a similar pilot project earlier this year in partnership with Bureau of Civil Aviation Security of India (BCAS) and Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL).
