We finally have an official launch date for the much awaited Vivo NEX. The Chinese company just released a teaser image for the smartphone, while also confirming that it will be hosting a launch event in Shanghai on June 12. The Vivo NEX is said to be the commercial variant of the Vivo Apex, which was a concept smartphone showcased by the company at MWC 2018.
The teaser image also reveals a few things about the flagship smartphone. It suggests that the phone will be coming with a full screen display, which is likely to feature a screen-to-body ratio of about 95 percent. So, it’s clear that the Vivo NEX will be ditching the notch. Along with that, it also confirms an in-display fingerprint sensor. The image also comes with a tagline that says, “What is NEX”.
Vivo NEX specifications and features
The Vivo NEX was recently spotted on Geekbench, and based on its listing it was also revealed that the phone will be launching in two variants. There will be a premium variant, which will carry the Snapdragon 845 SoC, and a low-end variant, which will be running the Snapdragon 710 SoC. The latter is expected to be dubbed as the Vivo NEX S. It was also the one that was spotted on Geekbench with a score of 1975 in the single-core test and 5833 in the multi-core test. The listing also reveals the phone to come with 4GB of RAM and Android 8.1 Oreo OS. However, rumors have suggested the higher-end variant to come with 8GB of RAM.

Camera details haven’t really surface yet, but if rumors are true, there is a good change that the front camera will be housed inside a pop-up module, integrated at the top of the phone. The NEX S variant was also spotted on the Chinese certification agency, where it was revealed that the phone will be coming with a 22.5W charger, indicating that it might support Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+. Nothing can be confirmed yet, but we will be updating the space the moment we have more information.
