The Vivo NEX is among the really good looking devices out there with its truly bezel-less design. The company has managed to achieve the design by opting for a pop-up selfie camera. Now, the device has been given a mod that makes it look even better than before. YouTuber JerryRigEverything has experimented with the Vivo NEX, replaced its back with a transparent panel. This transparent panel, not only looks good, but also gives a clear look at the smartphone s internals. But as you can see in the below video, what s really interesting is how the transparent panel exposes the workings of the pop-up camera module. The YouTuber shows the process of modding the NEX to give it the transparent look. He starts off by cutting off the adhesive, and peeling the layer of laminate to make the back panel transparent. With deftness, he also removes the metal plate covering the pop-up mechanism of the camera module. Once everything has been exposed, he sticks back the clear panel using double-sided tape.
The end result is quite something, and we wonder why smartphone companies do not offer the choice of transparent panels by default. HTC did it with the U11 Plus, and the U12 Plus, and more recently Xiaomi offered a similar option with the Mi 8 Explorer Edition.
