In addition to confirming the Indian debut, Vivo also revealed the full specs of the smartphone through a listing on its official website. Now, all that is left for us to know is the pricing and availability of the Vivo V7 successor. Based on the revealed specs, the Vivo V9 will boast an edge-to-edge display, selfie-centric camera capabilities, and Android Oreo running out-of-the-box.
Vivo V9 specifications
One of the most interesting elements which will be seen on newer smartphones is the Apple iPhone X-like notch. The Vivo V9 is no exception. Based on the listing, the smartphone will feature a notch on the top center, the design and positioning is quite similar to that on the iPhone X. At the back of the phone is the vertically positioned dual-camera module and a fingerprint sensor.
Vivo V9 will come equipped with a 19:9 full HD+ Full View Display. Under the hood, Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 SoC paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 256GB via microSD card.
For optics, there’s a 16-megapixel + 5-megapixel rear camera at the back. Up front, there’s a 24-megapixel camera for selfies. Camera features include AI Face Beauty and 4K video recording support. On the software front, the Vivo V9 will run Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box. Interestingly, the smartphone borrows another iPhone X feature which is AR stickers. The tool essentially allows you to transform an emoji into an animated character using your facial movements as a reference.
Other features include Smart Split 3.0 for multi-tasking, rear fingerprint sensor, dual-SIM support through triple slot, and Face Access for enhanced biometric authentication. The website mentions the price at an exorbitant Rs 10,000,000 for the Vivo V9. Obviously, this can’t be the selling price of the smartphone and given the odd listing, we should wait for the official announcement. For reference, the predecessor, Vivo V7, costs Rs 16,990 in India while the V7+ costs Rs 21,990.
