The Vivo X20 Plus UD is the first smartphone to feature the under display fingerprint sensor. According to Mydrivers, Vivo is using the latest Synaptics Clear ID FS9500 sensor. The Clear ID FS9500 is reportedly designed for smartphones with infinity OLED displays. Synaptics claims that its technology is faster than the 3D face recognition technology introduced by Apple on its flagship iPhone X. Also Read - Vivo V20 Pro 5G price in India leaked ahead of launch

Just like 2017 was a year of smartphones with dual-camera and face unlock, 2018 might see smartphones launching with Synaptics’ new technology. The company has, however, announced that it has begun mass producing its in-display fingerprint sensors, and 70 million units of the component will be made available to the market in 2018.
