Vivo X21, one of the few commercially available smartphone with an under-display fingerprint sensor, will launch in India on May 29. The company has started sending out media invites for an event in New Delhi, where it will unveil the X-series smartphone for the Indian market.
Vivo X21 with under-display fingerprint sensor was launched in Singapore early this month as the Chinese smartphone maker expanded its offering beyond China. In China, Vivo sells the X21 with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor while the X21 UD comes with an under-display fingerprint sensor. For the global market, Vivo is launching the X21 UD as the X21 that packs an under-display fingerprint sensor.
The launch of Vivo X21 in India next week will mark the first time that the Chinese smartphone maker is bringing its X-series to India. The Vivo X21 will be the flagship offering from the company with a feature no other smartphone has right now. With the X21 UD, Vivo has reached a technological breakthrough as the first smartphone to feature an under display fingerprint sensor. The smartphone also offers modern design including a notched display and support for taller aspect ratio.
Vivo X21 Specifications and Features
Vivo X21 is a flagship device with aluminum unibody casing and thin bezel design. It features a 6.28-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels and sports a notch similar to that of OnePlus 6. Despite the notched display, the Vivo X21 has a bottom chin and offers a respectable screen-to-body ratio of 85 percent.
In terms of hardware, the Vivo X21 uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset coupled with 6GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage. It features dual rear camera setup with 12-megapixel primary camera with f/1.8 aperture and dual-pixel autofocus. There is also a 5-megapixel secondary camera with f/2.4 aperture for depth-sensing and portrait mode effect. The smartphone comes with a 12-megapixel selfie camera. f/2.0 aperture and 1080p video recording.

Vivo X21 runs Android 8.1 Oreo overlayed with Funtouch OS 4.0 and offers hybrid dual-SIM card slot. It supports connectivity options like WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and 4G LTE. It, of course, has an under-display fingerprint sensor, which makes it a unique device in the overcrowded smartphone market. The Vivo X21 packs a 3,200mAh battery and will likely be offered in black and red color variants. In China, the Vivo X21 UD is priced at RMB 3,598 ad could launch in India at a retail price of around Rs 37,999.
