The Vivo X23 has started getting a lot of traction online lately. The device has been touted to launch on August 20, and was said to be the first smartphone to feature 10GB of RAM. However, now a new leak has surfaced online, giving us more insight on its hardware.
According to a post on Weibo, the Vivo X23 will be featuring a 6.4-inch full HD+ display, and the Snapdragon 670 SoC. Contradicting previous rumors, Denying previous rumors, the report claims the device to come with 8GB of RAM. However, there is possibility that this could be a base model of the smartphone, and Vivo could very well be making a 10GB variant also.
Previous rumors have also suggested the device to come with a similar V-shaped notch as the recently launched Oppo F9. This could mean that the device sports a screen-to-body ratio that is higher than 90 percent. The report also confirms the device to come with an upgraded version of the in-display fingerprint sensor.
But perhaps the most interesting thing suggested by the tipster is that the Vivo X23 will be featuring Vivo’s TOF (Time of Flight) 3D face sensing technology that the company unveiled at MWC 2018 this year. The new technology can track 300,000 facial points for 3D mapping, which is 10 times more than Apple’s FaceID technology featured on the iPhone X.
The new technology is expected to support c3D depth mapping for face unlock, authenticate payments, click selfies, and more. Not just that it could also be used for gesture recognition and enhance AR experience on the smartphones thanks to its three-meter range. Besides that, one of its advantages is said to be the small size, which could also be the reason behind the unique notch.
