Vivo today made its debut in India by launching the X5Max, which is the world s slimmest smartphone. The Chinese company has already given us a hint by saying that it achieved the thinness by pushing all internal components to the side. While it may sound a bit vague, Chinese website MyDrivers has given the smartphone the teardown treatment that gives us a look at its innards. The X5Max is extremely thin with a thickness of 4.75mm at its thickest point, and a ridiculous 3.98mm at its thinnest point. With such dimensions it has taken the crown of the world s thinnest smartphone away from the Oppo R5. What is really impressive however is that Vivo has managed to include the 3.5mm audio jack, something Oppo couldn t. The teardown also shows the motherboard, which is just 1.7mm thick and is L shaped. Also Read - Vivo Y53s with better camera, Helio G80 chipset launched: Price, features
To recap on the Vivo X5Max s specifications, it flaunts a 5.5-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) display and is powered by a 64-bit Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor (1.7GHz Cortex-A53 quad core + 1GHz Cortex-A53 quad core) paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable internal storage. It also features a 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front-facing, 2,000mAh battery, dual-SIM capability, LTE support, and Android 4.4.4 KitKat.
While it is quite impressive what Vivo has managed to achieve from an engineering point of view, it will be interesting to see how the smartphone performs in real world. There is also the question of how long we will have to wait till some other smartphone takes the X5Max s crown of the world s slimmest smartphone.
