Vivo X5Max vs Oppo R5 vs Gionee Elife S5.1: Price, Specification and features

Chinese vendor Vivo today entered the Indian market with a bunch of devices including the X5Max. With a thinness of a ridiculous 4.75mm, the X5 has beaten the likes of the Gionee Elife S5.1 and the Oppo R5 to become the reigning world’s slimmest smartphone. We pit the three smartphones together to find out how the three slim smartphones compare on the basis of specifications and features.

On the price front, we don’t know the Indian price of the Oppo R5, which will be launched later this month with a sub-Rs 30,000 price tag. The Vivo X5Max launched today costs Rs 32, 980, while the Gionee Elife S5.1 is priced at Rs 18,999.

As mentioned above the Vivo X5Max is the slimmest with dimensions 153.90x78x4.75mm. Meanwhile, the R5 has 148.9×74.5×4.9mm dimensions, and the Elife S5.1 has 139.8×67.4x 5.2mm dimensions.

The Vivo X5Max has the largest screen with 5.5-inches display. In comparison the R5 has 5.2-inch and Elife S5.1 has 4.8-inch display. As for the resolution, all the three flaunt full HD displays.

The Vivo X5Max is powered by a 64 bit Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor (1.7GHz Cortex-A53 quad core + 1GHz Cortex-A53 quad core) paired with 2GB of RAM. The Oppo R5 too is paired with the exact same combination of processor and RAM. The Elife S5.1 slightly lags behind in terms of power with a 1.2GHz Snapdragon quad-core processor paired with 1GB of RAM.

All the three devices have similar 16GB of internal storage. However, only X5Max supports a microSD card that can be used to expand the memory to up to 128GB.

Both the X5Max and the R5 feature a 13-megapixel camera at the back, while the Elife S5.1 comes with an 8-megapixel snapper. On the front however, the three smartphones will feature a 5-megapixel snapper.

Battery and OS
On the battery front, Gionee wins with Elife S5.1 packing a 2,300mAh battery. Vivo X5Max and Oppo R5, both house a 2,000mAh battery. All three devices run on Android 4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box.

As mentioned above, the Oppo R5 will be launched later this month with a price tag of sub-Rs 30,000, so essentially the choice comes down to the X5Max and the Elife S5.1. Both the devices are quite closely matched in terms of specifications, but it is the price difference that is likely to dictate what a user prefers.
