Vivo is all set to launch the X9 and X9 Plus smartphones at an event on November 17 in Beijing, China. The most talked-about feature of the X9 and X9 Plus are the dual front-facing cameras which have been rumored for quite some time now. A new teaser has surfaced online which confirms that both the X9 and X9 Plus will sport dual front-facing cameras. The teaser also reveals that the cameras will be of 20-megapixel and 8-megapixel. To support this, there had been leaked renders as well which showed how the X9 and X9 Plus will look like, and the smartphones can be seen sporting dual front-facing cameras. The teaser was posted on Vivo s official Weibo account. As spotted by AndroidPure, the teaser confirms the set of 20-megapixel and 8-megapixel front-facing cameras. The teaser however, does not reveal anything about its features. The pair of front-facing cameras are sure to put the Vivo X9 and X9 Plus on a high pedestal in terms of selfie centric smartphones. The leaked renders of the Vivo X9 and Vivo X9 Plus show the front and back of the smartphones. The dual front-facing cameras can be seen sitting side-by-side the speaker grille. The home button is located below the display which is expected to double as a fingerprint scanner.

At the back of the smartphones, we can see the Vivo logo placed at the center with antenna bands running along the top and bottom and the rear camera lens placed on the top left. What s hard to miss is the striking resemblance of the Vivo X9 and X9 Plus back with that of the iPhone 7. Especially with the rear camera lens and the antenna bands, one could mistake it for an iPhone 7 Plus, but the logo gives it away, obviously. Down below, the USB Type C port and the 3.5mm audio jack is visible.

Vivo X9, Vivo X9 Plus specifications

Based on the rumors and leaks, the Vivo X9 is expected to have an octa-core Snapdragon 653 processor paired with Adreno 510 GPU under its hood. The smartphone could come with RAM options of 4GB and 6GB hinting that the X9 Plus could be the bigger variant. As of now, the storage variant expected is 64GB. At the time of filing this story, there’s not a lot that is known about the upcoming devices.

Dual cameras have been the talk of the town this year with smartphone companies focusing on this technology religiously. If Vivo launches the smartphones in India, it will be up against other selfie-centric devices like the OPPO F1s and Gionee S6s that have been recently launched. As for the front-facing dual cameras, Vivo X9 would be the second smartphone with this feature. Last year, Lenovo launched the Vibe S1 in India, which boasts a pair of 8-megapixel and 2-megapixel front-facing cameras. The 8-megapixel snapper is for capturing selfies, while the 2-megaixel sensor is for capturing depth information. Lenovo Vibe S1 allows its users to refocus even after the selfie is clicked. Using depth information, the selfies can be cut out and used on a different background as well. ALSO READ: Lenovo Vibe S1 launched in India, here are its top 5 features

The smartphone also sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with true-tone dual-LED flash. Other than that, the Vibe S1 features a 5-inch full HD (1080p) display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It is powered by MediaTek s MT6752 octa-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz and paired with 3GB of RAM. It comes with 32GB expandable storage and is powered by a 2,420mAh non-removable battery. Connectivity options for the Vibe S1 include dual-SIM, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. It runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop with Lenovo s Custom UI running atop.
