Vivo is all set to announce the X9s and X9s Plus smartphones on July 6 in China. Invites for the launch event have already started rolling out, and there have also been multiple leaks surrounding both the smartphones in the past. Recently, a TENAA listing hinted at the design and a few specifications of the larger variant, the Vivo X9s Plus. The leak by Digit shows images of the Vivo X9s Plus, and also mentions some of the specifications of the device. Last week, Vivo unveiled the first ever under-display fingerprint scanner at MWC Shanghai 2017, and it was hoped that the upcoming Vivo flagship devices would sport the new technology. Vivo has stayed true to the leaks and unfortunately, the under-display fingerprint scanner does not debut on the Vivo X9s or the Vivo X9s Plus, and both the phones come with the oval home button below the display. In terms of design, Vivo X9s Plus comes with slim bezels on the sides and standard sized bezels on the top and the bottom. The top bezel houses the front camera setup, the earpiece and the sensors. Though the display dimensions of the smartphone are similar to previous Vivo flagships, the phone feels a little large and more bulky. The rear panel comes with the single camera setup on the top left with the LED flash placed right next to the camera lens. The Vivo logo at the back is bare except for these details. The volume rocker and the lock/power button rest on the side. ALSO READ: Vivo under-display fingerprint scanner: Here s how the technology works
Vivo X9s Plus specifications
Vivo X9s Plus will come with a 5.5-inch display as the leak confirms. The phone is additionally protected by the 2.5D curved glass display. Under the hood runs a Snapdragon 653 chipset, instead of the previously rumored Snapdragon 660 SoC. The internal memory is 64GB, and the device comes with 4GB RAM. Vivo X9s Plus is expected to run the Funtouch OS on Android Nougat 7.1.1.
Vivo has focused on the camera, and though the phone lacks a dual rear camera setup popular with most flagships, it tries to balance out though a new Digital Signal Processing feature. The phone focuses on low-light photography for the 16-megapixel rear shooter. As per Vivo, “Based on Vivo DSP Photography Solution, the smartphone can process the RAW file at a high speed, accelerate the shooting speed by three times, enhance the picture quality in low-light environments…” The phone also retains the 3.5mm headphone jack and the micro-USB port for charging.
Vivo’s new smartphone is currently slated to be announced only in China, though it is expected to soon roll out in other markets too. The pricing of the device is still unknown, though it is most likely to be priced in the budget segment. The phone will most likely come to India later in the month, along with the Vivo X9s. Further details of both the smartphones will be unveiled on July 6, post the official announcement.
