Vivo is widely expected to unveil the X9 and X9 Plus smartphones at its event on November 16. The new smartphones are said to feature dual rear camera setup and 6GB of RAM. Now, the rumor mill is abuzz with a third smartphone that the company could soon be taking the wraps off. The speculated Vivo Xplay 6 will be a successor to the Xplay 5. It is likely to be Qualcomm s flagship Snapdragon 821 quad-core processor coupled with Adreno 530 GPU and 6GB of RAM. It is also expected to come with 128GB of onboard storage, but there is no word on whether or not there will be a microSD card slot for further expansion. Although the smartphone will run Android-based Funtouch OS 3.0, it is not clear whether it will be the newest Nougat 7.0 version or Marshmallow. Vivo Xplay 6 specifications
While not much is known about the speculated Vivo Xplay 6 smartphone, based on current rumors, it will sport a display similar to its predecessor Xplay 5 offering a quad HD resolution (1440×2560 pixels). The Xplay 5 features a dual-edge curved display, but it is unclear if the Xplay 6 will also sport a similar display. The Vivo Xplay 6 could also bring in major improvements in terms of battery. While the Xplay 5 and Xplay 5 Elite were armed with a 3,600mAh battery, the Xplay 6 could boast of a 4,000mAh battery.
Although there is no information about the smartphone s camera capabilities, if compared to the Xplay 5 and Xplay 5 Elite, we could expect that the Xplay 6 will come with either the same 16-megapixel rear + 8-megapixel front camera configuration or see a slight boost in the megapixel count. The company is already expected to launch its X9 and X9 Plus smartphone with dual camera setup, therefore it is unlikely that the same module will also debut in its speculated Xplay 6 smartphone. All these are speculations and one needs to take them with a pinch of salt. ALSO READ: Vivo X9 with dual-camera setup rumored to launch on November 17: Here s everything we know so far
The smartphone, if announced, will debut alongside the Vivo X9 and Vivo X9 Plus smartphones. The Vivo X9 could sport Sony IMX260 sensor with dual-pixel technology, same as the one that we ve already seen on the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge. There have been rumors that the smartphone will feature a set pair of 12-megapixel rear cameras. It is further expected that the Vivo X9 will be powered by Qualcomm s newly announced Snapdragon 653 octa-core processor coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The chipset is said to include support for Clear Sight dual camera technology that will allow the company to use an RGB (color) sensor and a monochrome sensor to capture better photos with less noise.
There are no details about the pricing and availability of the smartphones, but they are expected to start shipping from December. Whether the company launches all the three smartphones or chooses to unveil select models, we will get to know once Vivo officially takes to stage on November 16. To have an estimate about pricing, the Xplay 5 is priced at CNY 3,698 (approximately Rs 36,000), the Xplay 5 Elite is priced at CNY 4,288 (approximately Rs 42,000). The X7, on the other hand, which is the predecessor to the X9 is priced at CNY 2,498 (approximately Rs 24,000).
