Vivo has launched a new entry-level smartphone in its Y-series called, the Y25. The smartphone is priced at RM 499 and comes in grey and white color variant. Coming to the specifications, the Vivo Y25 flaunts a 4.5-inch FWGA display with a resolution of 854×480 pixels. At the heart is a 1.3GHz quad-core MTK6580 processor paired with 1GB of RAM. It also comes with 16GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD card. On the camera front, the Y25 smartphone comes with 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel selfie camera. Other camera features include, Voice Capture, Palm Capture, HDR, Panorama, Children, PPT, and Watermark to name a few. The smartphone also features a 1,900mAh battery, and connectivity options like 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, a microUSB port. What’s rather disappointing is that the phone runs on older Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system which is wrapped under Funtouch OS 2.1 out-of-the-box.
If the Vivo Y25 is launched in India, at the given price it will face tough competition from the likes of Reliance Digital LYF Water 7S and Intex Aqua Strong 5.1+ to name a few. Both the smartphones are priced at Rs 7,499 and Rs 5,490 respectively.
The LYF Wind 7s features 5-inch HD display, and is powered by a 1.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 64-bit quad-core processor paired with 2GB of RAM. The smartphone is equipped with 16GB inbuilt storage capacity, which can be further expanded up to 128GB. It comes with an 8-megapixel rear camera, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The smartphone which is fuelled by a non-removable 2,250mAh battery.
The Intex Aqua Strong 5.1+, on the other hand, comes with a 5-inch FWVGA display offering 480×854 pixel resolution and is powered by 1.3GHz quad-core processor. It comes paired with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. It further includes support for microSD card for storage expansion up to 64GB. The smartphone features an 5-megapixel rear camera along with a 2-megapixel front camera with fixed focus. The smartphone runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Powering the device is a 2,000mAh battery with support to 4G, VoLTE, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi Hotspot.
Though there is no official word on an international launch, Vivo has sent out media invites for a launch event in India on March 17. But looking at the specifications and features, it seems highly unlikely the company will launch the Y25 on the day.
